Chasing the Dream - Devon Ostheimer

At age 16, Devon Ostheimer had already completed over 300 races in nine years of competitive racing. He started his career racing quarter midgets for four years—accumulating numerous series championships, winning close to a hundred main events and capturing the 2004 National Championship.
Devon’s success continued as he transitioned to 600cc micro sprints. In three years, he collected three track championships, 22 main event wins and the 2008 Micro Nationals. 2009 found him racing a non-winged 500-horsepower sprint car and earning four A-Main features, and in 2010 he was named “Rookie of the Year” for finishing 8th in the series point standings at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA, with a 760-horsepower winged sprint car. Tony Karis, Ocean Speedway track announcer and host for Motorsports-Radio, says, “Devon’s 2010 rookie title is a testament to his talent and skill as a young rising star in auto racing.”

Recognizing Devon’s well-developed communications skills, evident during radio interviews and his appearance as a co-host on Motorsports-Radio broadcasting from Cannery Row in Monterey, California, Karis states, “Devon’s combination of racing skill, versatility, maturity and a superior ability to communicate ideas makes him an excellent representative for racing and a great find for any sponsor.”

The Bright Future for Devon

As the next step in reaching his goal of competing in a NASCAR Pro Series division, 2011 will find Devon competing in the NASCAR-sanctioned Whelen All-American Series at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. The high-profile series, centrally located in the heart of the nation’s second-largest designated market area, will provide our marketing partners valuable exposure and recognition to reach the millions of Americans who attend or watch televised NASCAR races. MDR Machine, Inc., a Bay Area company providing quality milling and turning services, is a long-time supporter of TRG cars and Devon Ostheimer. CEO Mark D. Reuter declares, “We have backed Devon’s racing career from day one. His hard work, determination, dedication and talent have made us proud to be his marketing partner!”

Devon Ostheimer believes the foundation to his success in racing is a focus on the value of teamwork and collaborating with and learning from specialized, talented professionals. Here’s what some of those experts have to say about him:

“Devon has always impressed me as being a determined, friendly and intelligent young man who knows how to win, with a rare trait: he is mature beyond his age.”
Gary Scelzi, 4-time NHRA Top Fuel & Funny Car World Champion.

“Some of the young drivers coming up have talent and desire, but lack maturity and respect; rarely do they have both qualities. Devon seems to be the exception.”
Brent Kaeding, 13-time King of California Sprint Car Champion & Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee.

“Over the last 15 plus years we have provided precision fabrication services to The Racers Group (TRG), one of the top professional Sports car teams in the world along with TRG Motorsports, which owns the # 71 NASCAR Sprint Cup team. Another client is Canepa Designs, who provides investment quality automobiles & services to enthusiasts worldwide. We know what it takes to get the job done!
As a sponsor we look for the qualities that our customers demand from us. We have been supporters of Devon’s racing career from day one. We are proud to say that Devon has always met our expectations”.
